About the PRCM

The Regional Partnership for the Conservation of the Coastal and Marine Zone in Africa of the West (PRCM) is a coalition bringing together national, regional and international actors committed to the sustainable preservation of the West African coastline.

Created in 2003, the PRCM responded to the need to strengthen the coherence and complementarity of initiatives that had previously been often scattered. It also aimed to foster dialogue between stakeholders, encourage collective thinking, and sustainably strengthen the capacities of actors involved in the management of coastal and marine areas.

civil society organizations,

central and decentralized government institutions,

regional and sub-regional networks and organizations,

universities and research centers,

international organizations,

private sector actors,

Partenaires techniques et financiers.

The PRCM's vision is to work towards "A healthy coastal and marine environment, for the benefit of the well-being of West African populations."

 This ambition guides all of its actions in conservation, advocacy, capacity building, sustainable management and promotion of innovative and inclusive solutions serving the coastal and marine territories of the region.
Since 2004, the PRCM has organised the Regional Marine and Coastal Forum (FOMACO), which has become the essential meeting place for all stakeholders involved in the protection of marine and coastal ecosystems.
